Week 28 Day 3 - Third Trimester Pregnancy Changes

9:07pm

Since we are officially in the third trimester, I figured I would look into what to expect from the next couple months. This is what I have learned.

  • The baby is now the size of an eggplant.
  • The lungs are mature enough that, if the baby were born today, it has a pretty good chance of surviving.
  • She is putting on layers of fat.
  • She weighs anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 pounds.
  • She measures 13.6 to 14.8 inches long.
  • My wife thinks she has had a few Braxton Hicks contractions.
  • She has plenty of energy but according to some pregnancy sources that will start to fade away in the third trimester. She will start getting worn out, and tired, quickly.
  • She has some spider veins, but that is normal and will fade after delivery.
  • Some unexplained bruising. One on her leg that looks pretty brutal. But she doesn't even know where it's from. The doctor reassured her that the elevated hormones make the body sensitive to bruising.
  • Still no stretch marks!
  • The baby is shifting around all day in her stomach, she seems to like to hear her daddy's voice!
  • She can't see her legs when she looks down while standing up!

Week 28 Day 2 - Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Champions 2013

10:43am

For those of you that know me, or keep up with my writing, you know that I am a big Chicago Blackhawks fan.

Last night they were losing 1-2 with only two minutes left in the game. They scored two goals within 17 seconds of eachother, to win game 6 of the final series, to win the Stanley Cup Trophy (equivalent to the World Series in baseball, or Super Bowl in football). They won in 2010 also, for the first time in a while. It's very exciting because you may know that most other Chicago sports teams aren't very good. Plus, hockey is exciting to watch.

Now you won't have to hear anything else about hockey for a while!

My wife has a doctor's appointment today, I think it is another ultrasound, but I could be wrong, she didn't really tell me what it was for. I have to work until 9pm so I won't be able to make it. She has to go next Tuesday as well, and that one I should be able to make it to. Can't wait to see her again, she is getting so big!

Hopefully we will take some new pictures tonight, or tomorrow with our Baby Bump stickers. We have a Week 28 sticker on the sheet.

Week 28 Day 1 - Fetal Hiccups

9:18am

Officially in the third trimester. We are coming closer to the end. Or should I say the beginning? Only 12 more weeks to go, if she stays put to the end of the term. My wife thinks that she will go early, she has had dreams and signs of early labor. So she might be here even sooner!

Once the baby room is painted, I will get the crib set up ASAP. We will then need to rearrange the room a little to make everything fit right. It's not very big, but will suffice for the time being. She also picked up some gates for the top of our stairs. We won't really need them yet, but eventually will, and now it's one less thing we have to worry about later.

She still has abs!

While I was taking those pictures, she was feeling around and thought that she felt the baby's heartbeat. After a little staring at eachother, trying to figure out if it was actually her heartbeat or not, my wife realized that it was, in fact, NOT her heartbeat. It was the baby hiccuping! She said that she read that babys hiccup inside the belly, and that it is completely normal. Sure enough, the longer we felt, the more we could tell that we were feeling hiccups. Cool!

Some interesting information about fetal hiccuping

  • Almost all women will feel their baby hiccup sometime during the pregnancy
  • The fetus drinks amniotic fluid. When it does, the diaphragm contracts and causes hiccups
  • It can hiccup once the central nervous system is formed, anytime after late first trimester
  • However, you probably won't feel it until late second trimester
  • Fetal Hiccups are extremely normal
  • Some babies will hiccup on a daily basis
  • If it doesn't hiccup, that is normal too!

My wife's point of view. Can barely see her toes anymore!

Week 27 Day 7 - Nursery Paint

6:59pm

Short and simple. Met my wife at Home Depot after work to get a gallon of paint for the baby's room. We ended up getting Behr Premium because the associate told us that it is the least amount of fume's. He seemed genuinely interested in my wife's health, being pregnant. He told us that you can buy Benjamin Moore's all-natural paint. Which is probably the best, as far as health and natural ingredients are concerned, but is also double the price.

I think we can just go outside for a while that day instead.

I have been gaining fans via my Instagram account. I post lots of pictures daily, about the pregnancy and our life in general. Become a follower @PregoForMenBlog.

Snapped a pic of my wife making me lunch this morning. Look at that bump!

In case you were wondering what I do at work! That's a whole pork loin. Yum, pork chops!

Some cool storm clouds rolling in this evening.

9:42pm

Just got back from Target. My wife decided at 8:30pm that we needed to run to Target, which closes at 9pm. I'm the type of person that doesn't really like to rush when I am shopping. But she will. We had to look at some lamp shades, and make sure that fit right. She has them on her baby registry, and since invitation are going out shortly, the registries have to be figured out and set. We got everything figured out, and also got a tablecloth. Finally, we can't be scratching our beautiful new table!

Look at my two babies making us dinner! (Not her boobs!)

We want one of these! Any opinions?

I'm not much of a lamp guy...

Baby bathroom stuff. I didn't know there was so much.

Aww! Towels for her.

Week 27 Day 6 - Men's Pregnancy Symptoms

10:11pm

Hawks win! I haven't had a change to update today until now. Pretty busy at work all day, then came home and helped my wife go over our baby registry for the final time. Trying to narrow down everything so that we get exactly what we need, and with no duplicates across different stores either. It is very time-consuming, she has been working on it for a few weekends now. I think her mom and sister are coming over tomorrow to help figure out the baby shower stuff. We have the invitations picked out. Just have to get the invite list and addresses all straightened away. Another pain in the butt!

I think with the whole pregnancy thing, I have showed some symptoms as well as my wife.

  1. Weight Gain - I have gained probably 10 or 15 pounds since we found out she was pregnant. Stress probably plays a factor, baby's room used to be my workout room, and time consuming planning activities doesn't help either. Plus healthy food is expensive.
  2. Attitude Change- My attitude has become more "serious". I don't think like a boy anymore. Now I know what it feels like to "grow up" quick. I don't care about going out, or buying new things, it's all about baby now, and providing for the family.
  3. Hair Loss - Stress causes hair loss! I'm sure I have lost some already. Plus I am just getting older and that's what happens, I guess. Time for some good hair loss shampoo! I have heard good things about Regenepure DR. It's 25 dollars a bottle, and contains Ketoconazole, which is proven to prevent hair loss and promote hair growth by disrupting the production of DHT. It's also anti-dandruff. You can get it online at www.regenepure.com.
  4. Tired Constantly - With all the stuff there is to do, I am exhausted. I feel like all we ever do is work, or baby stuff. The occasional hockey game is watched, but usually while balancing some other tasks too. I can't even imagine how busy we will be the first couple years of our baby's life. Yikes!

While we were going through the baby registry, my wife showed me a gadget that you set reminders on. It reminds you when to check the diaper again, or check on the baby sleeping, or feed the baby. Kind of like a "How to have a baby" for dummies book. But not a book. She said it's for dads and that I should have one. What is that supposed to mean!? Why do I need a reminder? Because I forget everything? I guess she has a good point.

Week 27 Day 5 - Jacked-In-A-Box Review

8:10pm

We both had long days today. I just feel exhausted. Not too sure why, work wasn't that bad. She said that she was non-stop at her job today though. She didn't even take any breaks.

I was thinking very seriously about something earlier while I was at work. "I could get a lot more done, if there was less to do." Stupid, I know. Almost as stupid as "North West", Kim and Kanye's new daughter's name. Really? I hope it's a media hype, and they announce that it's not the real name in the near future. They are good at making money off of hype's like this.

Who's ready for a new prego picture?

Oh, did you want one of my wife? Here you go...

Almost to the Third Trimester!

Jacked-In-A-Box

www.jacked-in-a-box.com

$15 a month

Guy's this is one for us! If your into hitting the gym (like I am, or I should say "used to" since I haven't as much as I should!) then this is something to be interested in. Every month you get a box with 5-7 samples handpicked by Jim Stoppani and other editors of Muscle & Fitness, FLEX, and Men's Fitness magazines.

I got lucky though. This month featured MuscleTech products, which are normally the most expensive. It looks like they teamed up with them to provide some extra products. Check it out!

Thanks MuscleTech for giving me even more great stuff!

T-Shirt, X-large, a little too big for me :(

Nano Vapor, a pre-workout drink, this stuff works! Gives a ton of energy, not for the faint of heart!

MSRP is around 60 dollars I believe.

A shaker cup. A really NICE shaker cup. You put your protein in the bottom and liquid in the top, mix in when you are ready. The strainer looking piece, blends the mix while you shake. These are usually at least 10 dollars a piece.

More samples included!

Everything from the box.

I have had N.O. Xplode, and Assault. Both were great products. Ate one of the protein bars on the way to work today, it was actually good.

Great offers for Muscle & Fitness magazine subscription included as well.

This box is FOR SURE worth the price. Men love this stuff. I am willing to bet that at least 80% of men out there have had some sort of interest in working out. Most need the boost from supplements. It really does help, and this box gives them the opportunity to explore some of the options out there. Would make a great gift. Good age ranges for this stuff are 18-30 years old, I would say.

*Disclaimer - I did not receive any compensation for reviewing this product. I do get them at a reduced rate, or free. I will never recommend a product that I don't honestly approve of. My guarantee to my readers -  PregoForMen

Week 27 Day 4 - World's Best Husband Trophy

10:04pm

I'm trying to watch Game 7 of the NBA finals. I really hope San Antonio wins it. I can't stand the Miami Heat anymore. They have talent, but they are such crybabies.

My wife and I took a nice long walk today after I got home from work. My grandma sent home some of her homemade spicy pickles with my uncle today or yesterday. Not sure. So we walked over there to pick them up. It was a beautiful night for it. And my wife always talks about how she would like to get out and walk more often. The doctor said she should keep active daily, it's good for her while pregnant. I actually wear a FitBit pedometer every day. Today, between work and our walk, I took 15,000+ steps. A daily goal(which is hard to get) is around 10,000 per day.

She's looking at diaper cakes online right now as a possibility for the baby shower. Not sure if we would make our own or purchase one. I can't imagine they are very cheap.

I'm actually sitting here waiting for a "World's Best Husband" trophy right now since I worked all day, came home and walked with my wife after taking out the garbage, then came home and made dinner and did the dishes. I think that's pretty impressive, although most moms would probably look at me and say "is that all?"

Some of our flowers in our entrance way. They are looking good!

I'm excited that I received a true men's box to review. (When I get a chance, that is). It's all workout related stuff! My favorite! So stay tuned...
