Week 24 Day 6 - Mama Lana Box Review

10:29am

Break time. Which means my daily donuts and energy drink. I know it's not healthy but it tastes good, and donuts are only .50 cents.

Blackhawks play today at 4pm. First game of the series against the LA Kings. I'm a little disappointed that I will miss most of it, since I have to work til 5pm. Oh well. I should be able to catch the end at least.

Mama Lana Review will be on here later when I get home to my laptop. These quick updates I do from my phone from the Blogger app. It's pretty handy.

3:56pm

Hawks start in a few minutes. Might stop by my uncles after work to watch the end. Not sure yet. Have to see what the wife says.

She said that she felt like she had two contractions earlier. I said put the phone to your stomach and let me talk to my daughter. She did and I told her "Baby, I know you can hear me. This is your dad. You just stay put in there. We still have way to much to do before you come out!" Don't worry too much though, we know they aren't real contractions. The doctor told her last week that her cervix is not insufficient, and that if she begins to feel these slight contractions, that don't really hurt, they are most likely just "Braxton-Hicks" contractions. These type of contractions can begin around 6 weeks, and are usually painless, but can become increasingly more painful as you approach your due date. You will know that they are the real deal when the contractions stay longer, and become closer in time.

Mama Lana Box of Bliss

We received our first "Pregnancy" box in the mail yesterday. Mamalanabox.com offers a hand-selected "kit" that comes every month, designed for the expecting mother. The boxes cost $59 a piece, or if you buy the "full box service", which is all 9 boxes, you save a little money and it ends up being $459.

When we got the box, immediately my wife was waiting to open it. I had to beg her to wait a few minutes so that I could take some pictures for this blog. We were very surprised with the personalized letter written to us. A nice touch and it shows that they truly care!

Welcome Letter, and Personalized Memo

The personalized memo.
"Dear Kevin and Brittany,
We are so excited for the two of you!
We love PregoForMen (as do our husbands) and look forward to working with you.
With love, Anna and Lauren, Mama Lana"

What it looks like when you open the box! Neatly organized.

Prenatal Yoga DVD. My wife was just talking about starting yoga. She was really excited about this!

Blank Assorted Stationary

All Natural Mount Sequoia Granola Dark Chocolate Bar - She will be lucky if she gets to this before I do.

Adorable baby socks, looks like custom crochet. We will add these to her growing clothes collection.

Inspirational Cards

Traditional Medicinals Organic Pregnancy Tea. My wife LOVES tea, so this is another great addition! She said that she has heard a lot of good things about this brand's complete product line, as well.

Coconut Oil Sugar Body Scrub. I know myself, the many benefits of coconut oil. And for your skin, it is great. She is worried about stretch marks and this should help with that.

I have to say, we were very excited to open this box. Every detail is thought through, and even the box's exterior is good looking. I wish we would have come across www.mamalanabox.com and their boxes a lot  sooner. The boxes start at 3 months and go to 9 months. There are 2 more boxes after that as well. 40+ Weeks "Ready for Baby", and after the baby is born, "New Mama Necessities". They are pretty cool to order for yourself, but I would think that these would make even better gifts. We can't wait to get our next box, for month 7. I am a little curious now as to what we missed in the 5 previous boxes! Be sure to check them out. Like I said they make GREAT UNIQUE GIFTS. They are truly one-of-a-kind and sure to bring a smile to any expectant mother's face.

GUYS = GET THIS FOR YOUR WIFE... IT WILL MEAN A LOT TO HER, AND SHE WILL NEVER EXPECT IT! YOU CAN THANK ME LATER.

10:09pm

Well, the Blackhawks won. So that makes me happy, and my wife, she likes that stuff too. I missed the first two periods because of work, and travel home. We stopped at my uncle's house to watch the last period. My wife especially likes to go there because she loves children, and my little cousin is only 4 years old. She is too funny. I think she really likes my wife because every move she made, she would copy it. Kind of gives us a little preview of what's in store for us! I enjoy it, and so does she. We are excited.

Afterwards, my wife decided she wanted some ice cream. I couldn't say no to that! We attempted to go to small local mom-and-pop ice cream shop but they had closed right before we pulled up. So we settled for some Baskin-Robins. Chocolate Peanut Butter and Pralines n' Cream for me, Pistachio Almond and Pralines n' Cream for her. Oh, and some donuts for tomorrow!

Week 24 Day 5 - Onesie Pizza

7:24am

Up a little early before work. My wife is already gone to her job and I have to start getting ready in a minute. Every morning I say bye to her, and I say bye to the baby. She is sure that the baby knows my voice now, and when she hears me she kicks and moves around like crazy. I felt her moving around again for a little bit yesterday.

Also I am getting tired of the Miami Heat already, I wish the Pacers would just eliminate them already!

As I'm writing this, the news on tv is talking about a mother in Chicago who stabbed her 5 month old to death. So gross, how could anyone do something so brutal, and especially to something so innocent. People are so dumb, hope she rots in jail.

I found this "Onesie Pizza" online some time ago and I don't think I have ever shared it on here. If I did, sorry, but you are seeing it again. It's pretty cool how they folded them up to create that pizza effect.

2:03pm

Ugh, another day at work with too much to do! I'm at lunch now. My wife called me earlier and was upset because he hurt her ankle somehow. She thought she tore her Acheilles Tendon, or however you spell it. I told her she would probably be on the ground, screaming, if that was the case. I'm pretty sure the pain is intolerable. But she seems to be better now.

And I am a little mad at myself for brining a nice grilled chicken salad for lunch, but forgot to bring any dressing. Wonderful. Have you ever eaten a salad without dressing? Well, I have. Just now. And it sucked.

10:55pm

Ran and got some groceries. My wife made veal patties for dinner. They were pretty good! Pan fried with some fresh lemon on them, yumm!

Got a special package in the mail today. You will see more about it tomorrow.

Week 24 Day 4 - Spoiled Little Girl

12:21pm

Alright what is going on here? Tell me why on earth does this little unborn girl have more clothes already than I do? I need to catch back up with her!

Little girls are the most fun to shop for, at least for the mothers, aunts, grandmothers, etc. They have the most variety of outfits and cute little accessories. Both of our moms are excited to be able to shop for little girl clothes, and I know my wife is too. Me, being a guy, could really care less but honestly I am excited to shop for her too. Boys are fun too, but limited to clothes, and they just get them dirty and ruin them anyways.

Check out her collection that she already has! And she doesn't even know it yet!

I am finishing up my leftovers from last night. Not quite as good reheated but still delicious! That while doing a little blog work :)

Watch this video of a baby laughing hysterically at paper being ripped. Too funny!

4:56pm

Wife just got home. Said she doesn't feel too good. Great... We have all kinds of storm warnings showing up on the news. Tornado watches too. That's one downside of our place, it's a second level unit, so we don't have a basement. Eh. I'm sure we will be fine. We can get in the bathtub if we really have to. It's actually pretty nice out at the moment.

Week 24 Day 3 - Road to 10k

10:23am

Off work today. My wife texted me that she was feeling somewhat dizzy/blurry this morning while at her job. She thinks it had something to do with blood sugar levels, but now is asking what blood type I am because if the baby is different blood type than her, it can cause weird symptoms like that. Unfortunately I don't know my own blood type, but my dad is O+ and my mom is A+. Does anyone know what that would make me?

11:39am

24 week belly sticker!

A BIG THANKS to our friends over at the Simple and Stunning2 Etsy shop for hooking us up with these great belly stickers! They are high-quality 4" waterproof matte round stickers. It's a great deal but even better with 15% off using promo code - PREGOFORMEN. We are excited to use them throughout the rest of our pregnancy, and only hoped we would have picked them up sooner! They also print custom birth announcements, and a nice collection of wedding invites. Well worth the money, makes your pictures much more memorable as you can see!

Visit them on Etsy or Facebook Today!

3:15pm

As you have probably noticed, I made a major change to the layout of the blog. I think it is better looking like this. If anyone disagrees let me know and I will consider switching it back. Until then, this is home.

My mom is taking my wife and I out to dinner tonight. It looks like we are going to a popular cajun restaurant about mid-way between our homes. I am excited because the place is really good. Expect pictures.

5:23pm

Headed out to dinner. It's game 7 of the series for the Blackhawks versus the Red Wings. The Hawks have to win this game to continue in the playoffs. Hope they get it!!

11:16pm

Had a great night! My Aunt came along for dinner so we got to catch up with her and my mom.

The dinner was really good too. I had a catfish po' boy and my wife had crawfish étouffée. A couple crawfish arancinis(spelling?) for an appetizer as well. We ended up being there for almost three hours talking!

Oh and how could I almost forget, we made it home just in time to see the Blackhawks win in overtime!! See you next year Detroit! Now the next series is against the L.A. Kings. Should be tough but exciting.

Week 24 Day 2 - Just Another Day

12:21pm

Still tired from work yesterday, but back at it again. At least today is pretty easy. Have been cutting most of the morning.

We had a good dinner last night at my wife's parents house. I can't wait for lunch because I have leftovers.

24 weeks pregnant now. Sure is flying by fast. Still need to get the crib set up but will probably wait until after the room is painted. We have some cool "baby bump" stickers to show everyone later on.

24 week photo

2:19pm

Taken from EverydayFamily.com -

Your baby continues to grow and develop inside of you. She is now about the size of an ear of corn: measuring around 12 inches long and weighing a little over 1 pound. In the coming weeks, your baby will continue to grow and mature at a fast rate, gaining about 6 ounces of weight a week. Her brain is growing rapidly, and her taste buds are developing.

She is pretty lean at 24 weeks, but she'll soon be putting on some "baby fat" to fill out her frame.

My wife is going for a gestational diabetes test after work. I believe it is a normal test to make sure she isn't diabetic(my wife) because it can cause problems for the developing baby. Or at least that's how I understood it. I could be totally wrong...

8:11pm

My wife is making dinner. I think she is just making some microwave Salisbury Steaks, and a side salad. I have noticed we eat a lot of side salads, but that's OK because they sure are good. If you ever shop at ALDI, try their italian dressing. It's my favorite. Wishbone, step up your game.

We got a package in the mail today from my dad and step mom. THANKS for all the goodies, and Tupperware! We really needed it and it's all great stuff! We will definitely get plenty of use out of it. Just hope we don't lose it anywhere.

Gotta LOVE the crab chips! Only on the East Coast! Can't get 'em in Chicago!

Also in the mail, we received these cool belly bump stickers! We have seen other prego's online take pictures of their bellys with stickers similar to these. It's a great way to show off your bump and keep a reminder of how far along you are. Here's a little preview, I am going to take some pictures of my wife using them later. Will post more tomorrow!

Week 24 Day 1 - Happy Memorial Day

8:58am

To those who have served, those who have sacrificed, and those who have fallen. Today we remember you. Thank You and Happy Memorial Day!

12:42pm

We are so busy at work. Actually, it's not that we are too busy, it's just that we don't have enough help. Another guy comes in at 1pm though which will make things a lot better. Just already excited for the workday to be over with. I mean I am making double time and a half today, so can't complain too much.

Remember to Thank all of those who have served today, this day means a lot to them. And without them, we wouldn't be able to enjoy the freedoms that we have.

7:04pm

Almost to my wife's parents house for dinner. Her dad made Carne Asada and a bunch of other Mexican food from what I am told. I can't pass that up, it's some of my favorites. I think I was supposed to be Mexican in this life.

Oh and look at my salad I had for lunch.  Pretty fancy I would say. Ranch with buffalo shrimp. Yum.

Week 23 Day 7 - Easy Street

6:53am

Hey I should start work at this time every day. The roads are clear and I can get here about 10-15 minutes faster. It's tough to wake up at 5:30am though. There are a lot of people that do it everyday. I'm lucky to usually get a little more sleep I guess. Hopefully today goes by quickly.

My wife picked another name that I think I like. She doesn't know it yet, but I will tell her later. I don't think she even reads my blog. Can you believe that? I told her a lot of it is about her!

10:41am

I love starting early. I get so much done and a big jumpstart on my workload for the day. I'm already caught up and on break. The rest of the day should be relatively easy now.

Does anyone know what EDC is? It's the Electric Daisy Carnival going on right now in Chicago. We can actually hear the bass pumping way out in the suburbs. It's a festival/concert all weekend for famous DJs and dance music. I hear it's a lot of fun but I'm not a huge fan of the type of people it attracts. Lots of drugs and bad behavior. Mostly teenagers and early 20s. I think I am getting a little too old for parties like that. Maybe next year. This is the first in Chicago, but I have a feeling it will be the last after all of the complaints by residents.

 5:52pm

Has anyone ever seen these new Fresh Vending Machines? The ones that have organic foods and healthier snacks, like coconut water, sliced apples, organic yogurt.. A lot better than the Doritos, Cookies, and Soda machines. I think my favorite part is that they take Debit/Credit cards. I almost NEVER carry cash on me. I just don't like to, there really isn't much of a need to anyways. Everywhere takes debit cards now, why not vending machines? Plus if you lose it, it's not as big of a deal. You just call and cancel your card. But anyways, now these Fresh Vending Machines have a coffee version. The top of the machine makes espresso, coffee, hot stuff, etc. and the bottom is a regular refrigerated dispensing machine, that holds smoothies, iced tea, granola bars, and other cool things. I would love for them to put one at my work, I never buy crap from the chip machines. They are a rip-off anyways. Whoever wants to buy me one, check them out here - www.freshvending.com/cafe. You can franchise them and probably make a pretty penny. They are so unique, I love it!
