Keeping Up With The KarDADshians

Holy crap. 

Parenting is getting the best of me. I can't even seem to find my way out of bed on my days off. This parenting thing is serious...

...serious-ly demanding. 

Relaxation is non-existent. I hear it only gets better when they start to walk. Which will be in t-minus ten months? Ugh. 

You know what the worst part is?

My wife does 90% of the baby-related chores here. It's true. She feeds her, changes diapers, bathes her, dresses her, and all that other stuff. I don't do much, really. (And no, this is not her writing this, either.)

I just feel so exhausted. What little help I am able to give, is wearing me out quick. It's hard work to take care of a baby. God Bless all those single parents out there who do it every day, by themselves. I don't know how you manage. 

I speak to a lot of other Dad's, through Twitter and other blogs, and they seem to spend a lot of time with their kids. Taking vacations with them, going to parks, helping out Mom at home, etc. When I come home, I'm already ready for bed. I never used to be this tired, but our lives are non-stop. When the baby is sleeping, it's time to get everything else done that couldn't be done while she was awake. That leaves basically zero time for fun. 

We did manage to make it out to a friend's Halloween party last weekend. Brynlee was the star of the show as always. Until she spit up all over one of our friends who was holding her.

But it was good to get out for a while. We haven't seen many of our friends lately, and that seems normal once you start having kids and adult responsibilities. So, the few chances that are available, it's wise to take them up. Who knows when the next times will be. 

Some advice - Real life parenting is not like what you see on television. We are not the Kardashians. I'm sure there is a lot you don't see on tv. Like the crying, late night feedings, projectile poop and vomit. We can't pay someone to watch our kid for the day while we fly to Miami for lunch.

You have to be available every second of every day for the kids. They need you, and at the strangest and most random times. As babies, 3am is a perfectly acceptable example of when to tell Mom/Dad it's time for a snack. Mom/Dad might have to get up in a couple hours to go to work, but baby doesn't care. 

My wife says I complain too much. I don't know what she is talking about.

Week 39 Day 4 - It Takes Someone Special To Be A Dad

Wife is back to work today. She is training the temp who will be replacing her for the next 6 weeks starting whenever this baby decides to join us. Hopefully soon.
 

I actually was supposed to be off of work today, but I was asked to come in for a few hours early this morning. I obviously couldn't pass up the overtime. I told them that I needed to be off by 11a.m. so that I could get in a round of you-know-what...

Almost a hole-in-one!

We are going to her (hopefully) last doctor's appointment today. We will find out how dilated she is and when the doctor is thinking she will have the baby. Though, it is very hard to predict accurately. She also needs to fill out hospital papers, if she hasn't done it online yet. Maybe she has, I can't remember...


I had a post on Twitter yesterday and was intrigued by the response I got from one of my followers -

This brings me back to yesterday's writings. I don't ever think about the single mother's, and the children, that don't have father figures in their life. It has never even crossed my mind to NOT be a father. But there are so many fatherless kids. And adults.

So her response hit me hard. I had to wake up and realize that not everybody is like me. They don't look at life ahead and imagine it with their children by their side. They aren't working hard to create a safe environment for the children to grow up in. They don't look at overtime opportunities as a way to help to provide necessities for the family. They don't care. Or they take out their other issues on their kids and abandon them.

It's very unfair for the children. No kid deserves to not have a father. If the father passes away that's a whole different situation. But for any father to just abandon their child, whether it be to get away from the mother, or because they simply didn't want kids, is just RIDICULOUS.

All you have to do is watch Jerry Springer, or Maury Povich on television.

Like they say, "Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad."

Either way, this box is a good one. It's only 12 dollars per month, if you buy it on a montly basis. It differs if you buy a longer "plan". Like an annual subscription, turns out to be only 10 dollars per month. I can barely buy anything at the grocery store for 10 dollars. Not much news on the baby front. Same old, same. We did get a couple more gifts, but instead of spoiling them on here, we will share them at the baby shower. Or at least I think that is what my wife has planned. I let her decide all of that stuff. It's easier that way.

I picked up about 5 pounds of Salt Water Taffy today at work. Apparently it wasn't selling, so they discounted it huge, for the employees. As you can see, I paid $1 per bag. And with my employee discount, my total came out to $1.93. Not bad huh?

Week 35 Day 2 - ManHands Soap Co.

My wife called me earlier and said she is having pains in her stomach area, she thinks they might be contractions. Most likely Braxton-Hicks, but you never really know. We could technically have the baby anyday. Hopefully not, because it's a little early, and we aren't quite ready for her yet! At least wait until after the baby shower, little one.

I got up early and washed my car, brought it home and waxed it, too. I know that most men would like a son to be able to teach this type of stuff to, but I am just as excited to teach my daughter how to do these things. She will know how to wax a car, and how to change the oil. If we have a son later on down the road, he will learn too. I am not real knowledgable when it comes to all that car stuff, but I know enough, and it all comes in handy.

This one is for the guys! I had the opportunity to sample a few of these soaps from Man Hands Soap Company. As soon as I saw their website, I instantly thought - HOW COOL!

Week 35 Day 1 - Sleep Trumps Overtime

The reason I am writing so late is -

A) We were out at the amusement park all day.

B) I was at work for 12 hours.

C) We got arrested, after a brawl at a restaurant.







The correct answer is : B


I ended up getting stuck at work for 12 hours today. The overtime is nice, but sometimes you just want to be home.

Only a few more days until the baby shower. I think we have everything pretty much set. Until it comes to last minute, then I'm sure we will think of a million things that need to be done. Isn't that how it always works?

Week 24 Day 2 - Just Another Day

Still tired from work yesterday, but back at it again. At least today is pretty easy. Have been cutting most of the morning. 

We had a good dinner last night at my wife's parents house. I can't wait for lunch because I have leftovers. 

24 weeks pregnant now. Sure is flying by fast. Still need to get the crib set up but will probably wait until after the room is painted. We have some cool "baby bump" stickers to show everyone later on.

Your baby continues to grow and develop inside of you. She is now about the size of an ear of corn: measuring around 12 inches long and weighing a little over 1 pound. In the coming weeks, your baby will continue to grow and mature at a fast rate, gaining about 6 ounces of weight a week. Her brain is growing rapidly, and her taste buds are developing. 

She is pretty lean at 24 weeks, but she'll soon be putting on some "baby fat" to fill out her frame. 

My wife is going for a gestational diabetes test after work. I believe it is a normal test to make sure she isn't diabetic(my wife) because it can cause problems for the developing baby. Or at least that's how I understood it. I could be totally wrong...

My wife is making dinner. I think she is just making some microwave Salisbury Steaks, and a side salad. I have noticed we eat a lot of side salads, but that's OK because they sure are good. If you ever shop at ALDI, try their italian dressing. It's my favorite. Wishbone, step up your game.


We got a package in the mail today from my dad and step mom. THANKS for all the goodies, and Tupperware! We really needed it and it's all great stuff! We will definitely get plenty of use out of it. Just hope we don't lose it anywhere.

Gotta LOVE the crab chips! Only on the East Coast! Can't get 'em in Chicago!

Also in the mail, we received these cool belly bump stickers! We have seen other prego's online take pictures of their bellys with stickers similar to these. It's a great way to show off your bump and keep a reminder of how far along you are. Here's a little preview, I am going to take some pictures of my wife using them later. Will post more tomorrow!
