Week 31 Day 1 - Sorry, You're Going To Have To Wait

10:27pm

I promised pictures of the crib. I lied. It's late and we just got home from my parent's house. Sorry, but you're going to have to wait until tomorrow. I am off and will write up a good post with lots of pictures! We had another "re-do" for our original 3d ultrasound today, because the first time she was hiding her little face. This time wasn't much better, unfortunately. She is very stubborn, like her mother. (Shhh....)  Tomorrow I will put up some pictures.

Our crib turned out awesome! I love it. We both love it. She will love it. If she even remembers it. I was thinking about that earlier. I don't remember my crib from when I was little. Does anyone?

Here's a little preview!

Week 24 Day 5 - Onesie Pizza

7:24am

Up a little early before work. My wife is already gone to her job and I have to start getting ready in a minute. Every morning I say bye to her, and I say bye to the baby. She is sure that the baby knows my voice now, and when she hears me she kicks and moves around like crazy. I felt her moving around again for a little bit yesterday.

Also I am getting tired of the Miami Heat already, I wish the Pacers would just eliminate them already!

As I'm writing this, the news on tv is talking about a mother in Chicago who stabbed her 5 month old to death. So gross, how could anyone do something so brutal, and especially to something so innocent. People are so dumb, hope she rots in jail.

I found this "Onesie Pizza" online some time ago and I don't think I have ever shared it on here. If I did, sorry, but you are seeing it again. It's pretty cool how they folded them up to create that pizza effect.

2:03pm

Ugh, another day at work with too much to do! I'm at lunch now. My wife called me earlier and was upset because he hurt her ankle somehow. She thought she tore her Acheilles Tendon, or however you spell it. I told her she would probably be on the ground, screaming, if that was the case. I'm pretty sure the pain is intolerable. But she seems to be better now.

And I am a little mad at myself for brining a nice grilled chicken salad for lunch, but forgot to bring any dressing. Wonderful. Have you ever eaten a salad without dressing? Well, I have. Just now. And it sucked.

10:55pm

Ran and got some groceries. My wife made veal patties for dinner. They were pretty good! Pan fried with some fresh lemon on them, yumm!

Got a special package in the mail today. You will see more about it tomorrow.

Week 24 Day 1 - Happy Memorial Day

8:58am

To those who have served, those who have sacrificed, and those who have fallen. Today we remember you. Thank You and Happy Memorial Day!

12:42pm

We are so busy at work. Actually, it's not that we are too busy, it's just that we don't have enough help. Another guy comes in at 1pm though which will make things a lot better. Just already excited for the workday to be over with. I mean I am making double time and a half today, so can't complain too much.

Remember to Thank all of those who have served today, this day means a lot to them. And without them, we wouldn't be able to enjoy the freedoms that we have.

7:04pm

Almost to my wife's parents house for dinner. Her dad made Carne Asada and a bunch of other Mexican food from what I am told. I can't pass that up, it's some of my favorites. I think I was supposed to be Mexican in this life.

Oh and look at my salad I had for lunch.  Pretty fancy I would say. Ranch with buffalo shrimp. Yum.

Week 23 Day 6 - Those Are Some Huge Pancakes

8:59am

I have to work at 10am today. Going to be another horribly busy day, but there's a lot more help at least. My wife convinced me to wake up a little early today so I did, and got ready for work. Only to find that she made my lunch for work, and a huge breakfast for me. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, strawberries, mango, banana. I love that her new job has her waking up early. So now on the weekends, when she is off, she still gets up early. I am the same way. But anyways I have to get going to work. Hope everyone got this treatment this morning!

2:23pm

While on my lunch break, thought I would share 10 facts about Memorial Day. Many seem to forget why we celebrate the day, it's not just a free day off of work.

  1. Memorial Day began after the Civil War. It was originally called Decoration Day because both Northerners and Southerners decorated the graves of their Civil War dead.
  2. Memorial Day continued to be Civil War-focused until WWI when observances expanded to honor all those who had died in America?s wars. It is different from Veteran’s Day which honors all veterans living or dead.
  3. The holiday was first widely observed on May 30, 1868 when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. The cemetery, which lies across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., had been Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s plantation. It is thought the date was chosen because by that time of the year flowers would be in bloom all over the country.
  4. About 5000 individuals attended the first ceremony, the same as today.
  5. Several southern states have an additional separate day for honoring their Confederate war dead including… January 19 — Texas Confederate Heroes Day signifying Robert E. Lee’s birthday. The last Monday in April (or April 26) — Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi to mark the surrender of Confederate General Joseph E. Johnston to Union General William Sherman. May 10 — North and South Carolina which marks the death of “Stonewall” Jackson and the capture of President Jefferson Davis. June 3 — Louisiana and Tennessee for Jefferson Davis’ birthday.
  6. The first state to officially recognize the holiday was New York in 1873. While approximately 25 cities claim to be the birthplace of Memorial Day, in 1966 President Lyndon Johnson bestowed that honor to Waterloo, New York because they had begun conducting an annual community service regularly since May 5, 1866.
  7. In 1971 Memorial Day was declared a national holiday to be celebrated the last Monday in May, thus beginning the tradition of federal three-day holiday weekends.
  8. Memorial Day etiquette is to fly the flag at half staff until noon, then fully raise it until sunset.
  9. The inspiration to wear red poppies to honor the dead on Memorial Day originates from the 1915 poem “In Flanders Fields” by John McCrae.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie

    In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders fields.

  10. To ensure Americans do not lose sight of the sacrifices soldiers have made, “The National Moment of Remembrance Act” was signed into law in December 2000. On Memorial Day at 3PM local time Americans are encouraged to pause wherever they are for a minute of silence to remember those who have died in service to the nation.

2:19pm

Sitting in my wife's work parking lot waiting for her to get a free minute to give me the keys to her car. I thought I would be nice by getting her some Dairy Queen for her 15 minute break. I rode the bike here and I obviously can't carry ice cream and ride at the same time. But, I get to ride and she gets ice cream. It's win-win.

4:24pm

Had some Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Peanut Butter Blizzards from DQ. Pretty good, the flavor was her idea. While she finished up at work I went for a nice long ride in the country around here. Found some great roads. It really is beautiful out here. I grew up in the city/small town where there is always lights on, always traffic, and lots of buildings. Out here it's long roads, farmer's fields, forest preserves, and spacey subdivisions. Just the smell of fresh grass, flowers, and open pastures is enough to make me want to be here for the rest of my life!

If you have never seen this baby laughing video on YouTube, you have GOT to see it!
